Combine PDF files online, free and without limits

Sending five attachments when one would do is how files get lost. This tool lets you merge PDF online free of charge: pick your files, put them in order, and get one tidy document back. There is no account to create, no watermark on the result, and no daily cap. You can merge PDF without limit – ten files now, ten more an hour later. Merge PDF online free and unlimited is not a trial offer; it is simply how the tool works.

Most online tools upload your documents to a server first. This one does not. The merging happens inside your own browser, so a bank statement or an ID copy stays on your phone or computer the whole time.

What is Merge PDF?

What is merge PDF, exactly? It means taking two or more separate PDF documents and joining them end to end, so they become one file with all the pages in a row. Nothing inside the pages changes. Combining or joining PDFs means the same thing, and the tool is often called a PDF merger.

When you need to join PDF files

A few everyday cases where one file beats many:

  • A job application that asks for your CV, cover letter and certificates as a single upload.
  • Monthly bank statements or salary slips combined into one PDF for a loan or visa file.
  • Scanned chapters of class notes that you want to read as one book.
  • Invoices and receipts for the same client, sent as one attachment instead of twelve.
  • A signed form plus supporting ID copies for a government or exam portal that accepts only one document.

Getting the order and the pages right

The merged document follows the list on your screen from top to bottom. The first file's pages come first, then the second file's, and so on. Check it before you click the button; that is quicker than fixing it afterwards.

If you merge PDF documents often, name your files with numbers at the front, such as 01-cover, 02-report, 03-annexure. They are then easy to arrange.

Merge PDF pages, not whole files

This tool joins complete files. If you only want to merge PDF pages – say page 2 of one document and pages 5 to 7 of another – first pull those pages out with extract pages from a PDF, then combine the small files here.

Merge PDF, rearrange pages and remove the ones you don't want

Need to merge a PDF and remove pages such as blank sheets or a duplicate cover? Or merge PDF and rearrange pages so the annexure sits before the summary? Merge first, then open the result in organize PDF pages. Delete the extras by thumbnail, drag pages into a new position, rotate any that are sideways, and save. That is also the way to combine PDF pages from different files in a mixed order.

Merge PDF without losing quality

Some tools rebuild every page when they join files, and photos come out softer. Here the pages are copied across exactly as they are. Nothing is re-compressed, so you merge PDF without losing quality: text stays sharp, images keep their resolution, and links and bookmarks inside pages keep working. If you want to merge PDF in high quality for print – a portfolio, a brochure, a scanned certificate – this is the safe way to do it, because the merged file is simply the sum of the originals.

If that total is too big for email or a form, shrink it afterwards with compress the merged PDF. Doing it in that order means you only compress once.

Can I merge PDF without losing a digital signature?

No, and it is worth knowing why. A digital signature is a seal over the exact contents of a file. Joining that file with another changes the contents, so the seal breaks. You cannot merge PDF without losing the digital signature in any tool – this is how signatures are designed. The pages look the same, but PDF readers no longer show the signature as valid. Keep the signed original and send it separately when someone needs to verify it.

Merge large PDF files, even more than 100 MB

Because nothing is uploaded, there is no fixed size cap and no waiting on a slow connection. Server-based tools usually stop at 100 MB; here you can merge PDF files of more than 100 MB – scanned books, photo-heavy reports – because the only limit is your device's memory. A laptop handles hundreds of megabytes; on an older phone, merge in two batches and join the results.

Merge PDF under 500 KB, 1 MB or 2 MB for uploads

Merging never makes a file smaller. If you join a 300 KB form and a 400 KB ID scan, you get a 700 KB document. So when a portal says the upload must be under 500 KB, you have two jobs: merge, then shrink. Do them in that order and you only compress once.

The merger keeps every byte of every page, which is right for quality but not for size. The size step belongs to a different tool.

Merge PDF and reduce size in one pass

To merge PDF and reduce size, join the files here first, download merged.pdf, then open it in compress PDF to a target size and type the limit in KB. To merge PDF under 500kb, type 500; to keep a merged PDF below 1 MB, type 1000; to merge PDF less than 2mb, type 2000. The compressor tries stronger settings until the file fits, and tells you honestly if it cannot get there.

When the merged file is still too big

Text-only pages take almost no space; scanned pages take a lot. If the compressed result still misses the limit, the fix is fewer or lighter scans:

  • Drop pages the form does not ask for with organize PDF pages before compressing.
  • Re-scan colour pages in grayscale – a mark sheet or Aadhaar copy is perfectly readable that way and often a third of the size.
  • Trim wide scanner borders with the crop tool so the compressor has less picture to store.
  • Merge only what is needed for this upload; keep the full bundle for your own records.

Combine PDF with JPG, images and other file types

A common need is to combine a PDF and a JPG – a form plus a photo of your ID, for example. The merger accepts PDF files only, so there is one small step first. Open JPG to PDF converter, turn your JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG or iPhone HEIC pictures into a PDF, then come back and merge that PDF with your other documents. That is the honest way to merge PDF with JPG files here, and the picture keeps its full quality. Both steps run online, in your browser, so you can merge PDF and JPG online from a phone without installing anything.

Merge PDF and image from your phone camera

To merge a PDF and an image you have not taken yet, such as a paper receipt, use scan to PDF with your camera. It turns photos into clean pages. Then combine the PDF and the image scan in the merger like any two files. If you want to combine a PDF with a JPG signature or logo placed on top of an existing page instead, use the image button inside edit PDF.

Merge PDF to JPG, or onto one page

If you want to merge PDF to JPG – join files and then get pictures – merge here first, then run the result through PDF to JPG to save every page as an image.

If you want to merge PDF in one page, meaning two or four pages printed side by side on a single sheet, that is not supported here. This tool combines PDFs into one file with each page kept full size. For several pages per sheet, use the pages-per-sheet setting in your printer dialog when you print.

Merge PDF with Word, Excel or PowerPoint files

You cannot merge PDF with Word files directly, because a .docx is not a PDF. Convert it first with Word to PDF converter – spreadsheets and slide decks have their own converters on this site – then add the new PDF to the merge list. The result is one PDF with the Word pages in whichever position you drag them to. Fonts and layout come from the conversion step, so open the converted PDF once before merging to check it looks right.

Works on every device – no app, no download

You do not need a merge PDF app, a merge PDF app download or a combine PDF free download. The page works in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chromebook, Android and iPhone. On a phone, tap the select button and pick files from your Files app or Downloads folder; the arrows next to each row make reordering easy on a small screen. If you want a merge PDF app free of charge on Android, add this page to your home screen from the browser menu and it opens like one.

Are your documents saved in Google Drive? To merge PDF from Google Drive, download them to your device first, or on Android choose Drive as the source in the file picker.

Is it like a merge PDF offline tool?

Very nearly. People look for a merge PDF offline tool because they do not want private papers sent to a stranger's server. Here the files are never uploaded at all; the work runs on your own device, just as it would in installed software, and you get that merge PDF offline free of any licence fee. You only need a connection to open the page. And unlike installed programs, there is nothing to set up or update. The one thing you cannot do is merge PDF offline with the page closed, so open it while you still have signal.

Merge PDF on Love PDF

This is the merge tool of LovePDF by CodingMarble. It is one of more than 30 free PDF tools that share the same rules: no sign-up, no watermark, no limits. The output is a normal PDF that any reader opens.

Best way to merge PDF files: tips and fixes

The best way to merge PDF files is to prepare them first. Two minutes of checking beats sending a document with a sideways page in the middle.

  • Password-protected file will not load? Remove the password first with the unlock tool (you need to know the password), then add the file again.
  • Sideways scans? Fix them with rotate PDF pages before you combine, so the whole document reads the same way.
  • Need Word or Excel files in the mix? This is not a merge PDF converter online, so convert those to PDF first, then join them.
  • Want to type on the result, add page numbers or white out a line? A merge PDF editor is really two steps: merge here, then open the file in the edit or page-number tool.
  • Merging many small files? You can merge PDF multiple files in one go – select them all at once instead of adding them one by one, then fix the order.

Join PDF files together in the right order every time

When you join PDF files together for an application, put the document the reader needs first at the top: the form, then the proofs, then anything optional. Preview the merged file on your phone before you upload it – if it reads well on a small screen, it reads well everywhere. If a portal rejects the file, it is usually size, not order.

Merge PDF: questions and answers

How to combine PDF files into one?

Select two or more PDFs, drag them into the order you want, click Merge PDF and download the result. It takes only a few seconds, because the work happens in your browser and nothing has to upload.

Is this PDF merger online free, or is there a catch?

It is free with no catch. There is no account to create, no watermark on your document and no count of how many files you merge in a day. The merging runs on your own device, so it costs us almost nothing to offer.

Can I merge PDF files unlimited times, with no limit on how many?

Yes. You can merge PDF unlimited times a day, and there is no limit on the number of files in one go. There is no fixed size limit either – the only practical ceiling is your device's memory. If a phone struggles with a very large batch, merge in two halves and then join the two results.

How do I join PDF files online for free on my phone?

Open this page in your phone's browser, tap Select PDF files and choose the documents from your Files app or Downloads. Use the arrow buttons to reorder them, tap Merge PDF and save the result. You can join PDF files online free on both Android and iPhone, with nothing to install.

Are my files safe when I merge PDF into one PDF here?

Yes. The files are read and joined by your browser on your own device. They are never uploaded, so nobody else can see them and there is nothing for us to store or delete. Close the tab and every trace is gone.

Why won't one of my PDFs load?

The most common reason is a password. A PDF that asks for a password when you open it cannot be read by the merger. Unlock it first using the password you know, then add it again. A file that is damaged or only partly downloaded can also fail – try downloading it again or run it through a repair tool.

Does merging change page size or orientation?

No. Every page keeps its own size and direction. An A4 letter, a landscape slide and a small receipt scan can sit in the same merged file, each exactly as it was. If a page is sideways in the original, it stays sideways, so rotate it before or after merging.

Can I merge PDF to a single PDF in a different order than I selected?

Yes. The order you select files in does not matter. Before you merge, drag any row up or down, or use the arrow buttons beside it. The final document follows the list from top to bottom. To reorder single pages after merging, use the organize tool.

Can I merge PDF files under 500 KB or below 1 MB?

Merging adds sizes together, so the merged file is at least as big as its parts. To get under a limit, merge first, then open the result in the compress tool and type the limit in KB – 500 for 500 KB, 1000 for 1 MB, 2000 for 2 MB. Scanned pages shrink a lot; text pages are already small.

Can I merge multiple PDF files at once?

Yes. Select as many PDFs as you like in one go – there is no cap on the number of files. They appear as a list you can drag or nudge with the arrow buttons. Click Merge PDF once and every file is joined in that order into a single document.

Can I merge PDF files of more than 100 MB?

Yes. Files stay on your device and nothing is uploaded, so a PDF of more than 100MB is fine – no server sets a cap. A computer with a few gigabytes of free memory joins very large scans without trouble. A low-end phone may run out of memory; if so, merge in two halves and join the results.

Can I merge a PDF with a Word document?

Not directly, because the merger reads PDFs only. Convert the Word file to PDF with the Word to PDF tool on this site, then add that PDF to the list and merge. The same goes for Excel sheets, PowerPoint slides and pictures: convert to PDF first, then combine.

Is there a merge PDF offline tool or app I can download?

You do not need one. This page does the merging inside your browser, so your files are never uploaded, which is the reason most people want an offline tool. There is nothing to download or install, no licence and no updates. You only need internet to open the page itself.

Does merging reduce the quality or resolution of my pages?

No. Pages are copied into the new file exactly as they are; nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed. Scanned certificates, photos and vector drawings keep their full resolution, so the merged document is fine for printing. If you want a smaller file afterwards, compress it separately and choose the Light level to keep quality high.
